70 Acre Off-grid Farm in Springfield

This farm is located near the conservative Mennonite Community of Springfield which was founded in 1996 and is home to about 40 families who live from the fertile land.  This community produces: vegetables, eggs, fresh milk, cheese, jellies and even lots of other local & exotic fruits.  The community is about 3.5 miles off the Hummingbird Highway and approximately 14 miles from the Capital City of Belmopan. 

The 70 acre farm is planted in numerous fruit bearing trees such as: limes, avocados, coconuts, oranges, mangoes, dragon fruit, starfruit, mandarin.  One important highlight is that there are over 450 lime trees that are in production and can be sold at the farmer’s market.  There is plenty of space for additional planting of fruit trees or even for raising some chickens, sheep, goats or horses. 

There are 3 structures on the land:

Building 1: is the main home, which is wood structure about 1,200 sq. ft. and is built up on a concrete posts.

Building 2: is the guesthouse which is wood structure and is about 320 sq. ft.

Building 3: is a wood structure and is the caretaker’s house.

Additionally there is a 20 ft. shipping container used as storage and a water tank used to catch rainwater.  

The City of Belmopan is where would find almost everything you would need including: grocery stores, banks (ATMs), gas stations, hardware & building supplies, household items, restaurants, appliances, clinics and even embassies. 

If one you decide you want to take some time off to the beach, then the beach at Placencia is just a 2 hour drive away on the scenic Hummingbird Highway with several rivers which offering great swimming spots. There are even some tourist attractions stops such as the St. Herman’s Cave and the famous inland blue hole which is also an excellent spot for swimming and cooling off.
